This season we will see the gang get back to their roots...well, all with the exception of Snooki and JWWOW.



We have been eagerly waiting their return and now our wait is finally over! Although I am not too pro on them going to the mother country, because it's JERSEY SHORE not Miami Shore and certainly not Florence, Italy. That being said, the previews for the upcoming season look compelling and entertaining, maybe the more so than the past three. We see Ronnie and Mike's explosive fight [as The Situation said "It was a bad situation."]. We see Pauly and Deena make out at a club. We see Deena make out with an Italian chick who has a twin and was supposed to be hooking up with Mike. We are on the search with Vinny to find a nice, traditional, real Italian girl. The house has huge blow ups and meltdowns and of course, some fun. Like most Italians know, we love hard, play hard and fight harder. We are passionate people, we throw things, we yell, we scream, but in the end its all about love and family.

With the Jersey Shore family in Florence, Italy this season I thought it appropriate to pick a wine region around there. Standing proud like it's winemakers, in stoic dark scarlet and candy apple red blended color hues in your glass. It's nose tempts you with provoctive aromas of dried plums, black currents and purple figs, all with a hint of cardamom. Your palate is then tickled with juicy fruit forward notes of blackberries, elderberries and black plum flesh. This Brunello has delightful culinary spices layered on top of the dense black fruits; anise, clove, fennel seed and pink peppercorn. Full bodied with a silky smooth mouth feel and round, layered, long and lingering finish, leaving you thirsty for your next sip.

The fragrance she exudes is an intoxicating blend of the fruits and florals of the tropics-cherimoya, guava and plumeria. On the tongue, more island flavor; refreshing notes of pineapple and papaya flood your palate. She finishes with a hint of banana and as smooth as a "Jersey Shore Juice Head"'s tanned, oiled up chest.

FINALLY! A smile from "Lonely Ronnie"! Mike "The Situation" buys PaulyD a mini-motorbike for his birthday and ends up being a welcome delight for RONNIE. When Ronnie rides the bike PaulyD calls out to him "...ya big basterd!" and says to the camera, "It's so funny seeing Ronnie's big a_s riding, he looks like a bear in a circus." Tonight's wine selection is dedicated to Ronnie. Circus '03 Shiraz-Cabernet is as big as Ronnie looks like on Pauly D's mini-motorbike. The color is dark and ominmous, extremely dark raspberry and violet mix. It looks black in the bottle and not that much lighter in your glass. The aroma is ripe with summer dark berries; blackberry, bosenberry and loganberry with a small hint of white pepper spice on the back end. The flavor is intensely fruit-forward and in your face. Kind of like the entire cast of Jersey Shore [which is why we love them!]. Plum, black elderberry and black currents flood your tastebuds. The mouthfeel is round and ripe, the finish is long and ends with a sweet oak, slightly acidic kick.

Terrabianca '07 Chianti Classico 

"I love Single Sammi!"-Snooki and Deena ...On again fight again. Off again cry again. On again scream again. Off again? Who isn't sick of the Ronnie/Sammi relationship drama. Well cork a bottle of Chianti, pour a glass then, SIP. WATCH. TWEET™ along with me and watch some Trashtastic Reality TV! 

This isn't the generic straw covered bottle of Italian red table wine. Terrabianca Vineyards are located in the middle of Tuscany, right in the heart of the Chianti Classico region. Their Chianti is made of mostly Sangiovese with just enough Canaiolo to build a structure. The color is a bright, cherry-clear red with a body that's similar to Snooki; light but compact. The nose is berry luscious with raspberries and blueberries. The Terrabianca Chianti boasts flavors of berries as well except much more tart than it's fragrance. A little heavier than a light bodied wine it has a fruity crisp mouth feel and boysenberry finish.

I decided to go with the Monastrell because much like the Jersey Shore reality show itself--people think they are too good, too educated, too worldly, too_____ for it. But you sip [watch] it once, you'll come back for more when you're in the mood to be entertained on the cheap. If you are unfamiliar with Monastrell and have had Mourvèdre you've had Monastrell. If you haven't had either and you are a red wine fan why not start tonight?

The Bodegas Sierra Salinas Monastrell's color is as dark as Snooki after a spray tan and bronzer. But in lieu of burnt orange it's dark violet with tints of deep garnet. The aroma is a deceitful blend of juicy dark, ripe fruits. I say deceitful because upon your first swirl and sip flavors of mocha and leather flood across your palate. I wouldn't call it a 3 dimensional wine-meaning it doesn't show off a lot of layers but the mouth feel is robust with culinary spices and finishes pleasantly.
